November is Here!

November is Here!
It is that time of year, once again! It is that time of year when our church is filled with life, energy, and activity as we prepare for the end of the year. Between now and Christmas morning, every single week is filled with a major event in the life of our church. So, to help keep you all informed and to help me keep my sanity, I’m going to run through the big things that are taking place in our church this November! First and foremost, this past Sunday was All Saints’ Sunday. It was a wonderful experience of being able to lift up the losses we have shared over this past year, especially those members who have passed on into God’s eternal rest. We’ve experienced painful losses over this past year, but somehow we have still remained a strong family of love. Looking ahead, this upcoming weekend over 30...

"Enough is Enough" - Domestic Violence Awareness Sunday

"Enough is Enough" - Domestic Violence Awareness Sunday
This upcoming Sunday our church will be addressing the issue of Domestic Violence. It will be an emotional service that will include poetry readings, written from DV survivors, which will show the difficulties and heartbreak of what it means to experience these horrors first-hand. Most importantly, it will be a time when we, as a faith community, will come together to take a stand against Domestic Violence. This being said, it goes without saying that this Sunday’s service will not be a typical Sunday morning service for our congregation. It will not be as light-hearted and as joyful as most services we have had in the past. However, this is a topic that people of faith must address and it is not something that we can ignore. It is my hope that you are able to join us this Sunday for a very important service in the life of our faith...

As we begin the month of October together, it is a good time to look at the upcoming events and festivities in the life of our congregation. First and foremost, the Chicken Paprikash Dinner is taking place this Saturday from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Last year’s dinner was a huge success and we are looking forward to a wonderful evening filled with good food and loving fellowship. I hope you are able to join us for this wonderful event in the life of our church! We will be setting up for the dinner on Friday night, so if you are able to help set up our Fellowship Hall we will be starting at 6pm. However, once you have...

The Stigma of Homelessness

The Stigma of Homelessness
If you (and your partner) were fired today... how long could you live on what you have in your savings? Or, God forbid, if you and your partner were injured, how long could you continue to pay rent or your mortgage? These are uncomfortable questions that many of us don't like to think about. Money, by its very nature, makes many people anxious, and issues regarding money tend to be the number one stressor in people's lives. Without question, money is a cause for a lot of pain and worry in the world. In this same theme, this Sunday we will be pushing ourselves past outside our comfort zones as we look at an issue that is widespread throughout our country, today. This Sunday we will be looking at the issue of homelessness in our country, and how we are called to respond to homelessness as people of faith. Unfortunately, we...
